Eberle active in the "A³ climate neutral" initiative🌱⚙️

J. N. Eberle & Cie GmbH – as a manufacturer of industrial saw bands and other high-quality strip steel products – has been committed since August 2024 to the “A³ climate neutral” initiative. Since then, Eberle has been preparing an annual CO2 balance sheet and documenting the gradual reduction of emissions. Andreas Thiel, Managing Director of Regio Augsburg Wirtschaft GmbH: “We are pleased to have Eberle, a company traditionally rooted in Augsburg, on board our ‘A³ climate neutral’ initiative.”

At Eberle, the high-temperature processing of steel has so far been associated with high electricity consumption, a lot of waste heat, and the emission of process gases. The untapped potential for savings here is now being consistently realized.

In initial steps, Eberle trained its employees and eliminated compressed air leaks. The company then lowered the air temperature in the production halls and reduced the consumption of the process gases nitrogen and hydrogen. In addition, Eberle optimized the processes and was already able to significantly reduce electricity consumption. Employees are not left out either. They can lease e-bikes at a low cost.

Looking to the future, Eberle aims to have maximally reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, when the “A³ climate neutral” initiative ends. “At the planned new location, we want to produce with optimized energy efficiency,” says Eberle Managing Director Gernot Egretzberger. To truly operate climate-neutrally, a climate-friendly approach to the company’s remaining emissions is ultimately required, along with continuous monitoring through CO2 balance sheets and the associated measures.
